Cardi B has made history with “Bodak Yellow” as the first female rapper to top the Hot 100 Billboard music chart in 19 years.
The previous record holder was Lauryn Hill, who topped the chart with no other billed artist.
Cardi B, from the Bronx, had the number two spot last week and was able to overtake and dethrone “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift.
The Dominican rapper even through a little shade at the former queen when she celebrated her number one spot by singing the chorus of the tune she toppled.

Cardi B, born Belcalis Almanzar to a Dominican father and Trinidadian mother, grew up in the South Bronx.
She is only the fifth female rapper to top the Hot 100 after Lil’ Kim who was featured on “Lady Marmalade,” Shawnna who collaborated with Ludacris on “Stand Up,” Iggy Azalea who led with “Fancy” along with Charli XCX.
According to Billboard, Cardi B is also the first female solo artist to lead the Hot 100 list with no featured artist since Meghan Trainor‘s “All About That Bass.”
One act noticeably absent from the list is Nicki Minaj, that has had big hits, but has not reached the number one position.
There were talks on social media that Taylor and Nicki’s fans were going to unite to stop Cardi B from reaching the top spot.
The Barbz and the Swifties don’t get along as their divas are not friends, but they were planning on making a truce and get behind Swift’s song to keep her at number one.
In return, when Nicki released a track, the Swifties would back it up and make her top the charts.
However, Nicki Minaj seems to not have beef with Cardi on beating her to the historic title as she just congratulated her on Twitter.
“Congratulations to a fellow NEW YAWKA on a RECORD BREAKING achievement,” Nicki tweeted. “Bardi, this is the only thing that matters!!! Enjoy it @iamcardib.”
