There’s trouble in Westeros. Jason Momoa has found himself in hot water for inappropriate comments he made during a 2011 Comic-Con panel. The former Game of Thrones actor, who played Khal Drogo until 2012, is seen discussing his role in the controversial video below.
“…as far as sci-fi and fantasy, I love that there’s so many things you can do,” Momoa said at the time, “like rip someone’s tongue out of their throat and get away with it and rape beautiful women.”
The comment elicited incredulous laughs from the crowd while some of Momoa’s co-stars, like Kit Harington, covered their faces with their hands.

Momoa’s statement was incredibly poorly worded, but it’s notable he was discussing fantasy at the time — the crazy culture Khal Drogo exists in and the demented actions that are somehow acceptable in a fantasy world.
Still, many fans are disturbed and disappointed.
Female fantasy fans to Jason Momoa: we wanted to believe you weren't typical male trash. We wanted it so, so much. pic.twitter.com/jvRZr1tG5E

Everyone laughing after Jason Momoa jokes about rape IS rape culture. That laughter is why victims don't come forward.
