There’s trouble in Hawkins, Indiana: Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton has reportedly been banned from the U.S. due to drug traces.
According to The Sun, the UK native was denied access to the states because small amounts of cocaine were discovered amongst his things, forcing him to miss the Season 2 premiere of the smash hit Netflix series.
The 23-year-old, who plays Jonathon Byers on the show, was reportedly caught by drug-sniffing dogs while trying to enter Los Angeles.
An anonymous source told The Sun a “very small amount” of white substance was also discovered.
He was sent back to London immediately.
Heaton has yet to issue a public statement, nor has Netflix acknowledged why he was missing from the premiere.
According to a statement obtained by People from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, any “foreign national may be inadmissible due to the commission of a crime involving drug possession.”
Series stars Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Sadie Sink, and Dacre Montgomery were present for the event despite Heaton’s absence.
It’s unclear how long Heaton will be banned from the States.
Wishing all the best for affected parties.
