It looks like YouTube has finally (finally) decided to hold Logan Paul accountable for the horrifying video he posted on New Year’s Eve that featured a man who had died by suicide in Japan’s Aokigahara forest.
YouTube has temporarily suspended ads on Logan Paul’s channels. According to experts, Paul may have been making more than a million dollars a month from the ads on his YouTube videos.
“After careful consideration, we have decided to temporarily suspend ads on Logan Paul’s YouTube channels,” YouTube said in a statement. “This is not a decision we made lightly, however, we believe he has exhibited a pattern of behavior in his videos that makes his channel not only unsuitable for advertisers, but also potentially damaging to the broader creator community.”
Although YouTube’s official statement did not name any specific videos, people were quick to point out that a recent video showed him tasering two dead rats.
This temporary ad suspension comes on the heels of YouTube removing Paul’s channels from the Google Preferred program, which allows companies to sell ads on the channels of YouTube’s most popular content creators (Paul has over 16 million subscribers).
After the uproar surrounding the Aokigahara forest video, Logan Paul took a self-imposed hiatus from posting to YouTube. On January 24, he returned to the platform with a video promoting suicide awareness called Suicide: Be Here Tomorrow. The video, he said, was a bid to better educate himself on depression and mental illness.
