What does fashion legend Gianni Versace, Glee alum Darren Criss and Sydney, Australia all have in common? Well in order to promote the launch of The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story on Foxtel, star of the series Criss will be heading down under to Sydney.
Criss is best known for Blaine Anderson from comedy-drama-musical TV series Glee. He’s also dabbled in some voice acting work in the animated Transformers: Robots In Disguise as well as being an Emmy nominated star of film, television, music and stage. However his latest role in the second instalment of the American Crime Story anthology series will probably shake up people’s perceptions.
Based on the book Vulgar Favors by Maureen Orth, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story follows the path of Andrew Cunanan (Criss) as he criss-crosses America leaving bodies in his wake and gets him on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list. Eventually culminating in Cunanan’s murder of fashion mogul and icon Gianni Versace (Edgar Ramirez) on the steps of his South Beach, Florida home in 1997. The series also examines Versace’s tumultuous relationship with his sister Donatella (Penelope Cruz), and his partner Antonoio D’Amico (Ricky Martin), and how prejudice and cultural homophobia potentially hampered law enforcement investigations into Cunanan.
Whilst in Sydney, Criss will also be performing an exclusive, intimate and one-night only live show at Eternity Playhouse, Darlinghurst courtesy of the Michael Cassel Group. For those wanting to check out Criss’ singing chops, you can find out more information and purchase tickets here.
