With the release of the first photo from the Wonder Woman sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, director Patty Jenkins essentially answered one big fat burning question fans had at the end of the first one — is Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) really, absolutely, definitively dead?
Well, no, I’m guessing. Turns out, Steve has risen from his fiery coffin and is now kicking it in shopper’s paradise after having raided Zack Morris’s closet. Behold, proof.
What in the world? How? We thought Steve heroically sacrificed his life in a burning blaze 30,000 feet up in the air to save everyone. Someone do the math. Hurry. Boggle my mind with numbers, analysis, and calculations. Internet, quick! Explain how this is possible?
Fans on Twitter are also speculating the above image is not Steve Trevor, but rather the son of Steve Trevor and Wonder Woman. Mmmmk. Doubtful? Let’s face it, we’ve been MCU-ed. And if someone tells me Princess Diana of Themyscira used some DC version of a time travel gadget to go back in time, mess up and complicate timelines, and save our dapper pilot, I will have a melt down.
Side note: Gadot also shared a much less controversial image of Wonder Woman having a deep, deep moment in front of lots of TV screens.
Superhero movies, amirite? They can’t keep heroes dead for too long. Also, I can’t wait for this movie.
